Fancy Flats...

I spend a lot of time drawing high heeled shoes... but the truth is I never wear them! I'm more in favor of ballet flats, and these lovelies from Anthropologie are a delight to gaze at. The most recent catalog is complete eye candy, you should definitely pick up a copy!

This weekend, I'm journeying home to Maryland one last time. My parents have finally sold my childhood home and it makes me so sad. While I'm happy that they have moved on and have built a beautiful house near the water in Virginia, a piece of me knows I'll never be able to go "home" again and I'm feeling awfully anxious about the trip.

I really hope by the time I come back to the city, I'll feel some sort of closure and be at peace with the whole thing. But until then, all I can think about is going home...

  1. stunning shoes! I would like to have them all:)

  2. I love flats and wear them most of the time which makes wearing killer heels even more special :)

  3. Wow talk about parallel universe. My parents also just sold my childhood home and I'm returning Aug 26th to Canada just to say goodbye. Oh Joanna I so know how you feel about this. It is very difficult. Funny that your beautiful shoe illustrations brought me to your blog and then I find that we are going through a very similar situation.

  4. @ Flara - Aren't they fun? I may have to pop over to Anthro and check them out in person =)

@ Veronika - I wish I had the confidence to pull off sky high stilettos! More power to ya!

@ Meagan - I feel we're living double lives to some extent! It's nice to know someone else is going through the same thing. I feel silly for being so upset about it, but it was so hard leaving my house for the last time today. Heading over to your blog now...

  5. I like this flats illustration, if you have them available as prints i think a lot people would love to frame it and put it on their walls!:)

I wear ballet flats all the time! they are so comfortable!:D

  6. Thanks, Sunny! I've thought about maybe offering prints someday. It's nice to know that someone might actually want one! How have you been? I'm anxiously awaiting your next post =)
